Jessica Simpson Becomes Major Russian Movie Star

Jessica Simpson is definitely a “Major Movie Star” – at least in Russia.
Simpson’s new big screen comedy, “Major Movie Star,” opened atop the box office in Russia earlier this month, according to a report by Fox News’ Roger Friedman.
What makes the achievement all the more interesting is the fact the film has never opened in the U.S.
In fact, there is no potential U.S. release date listed anywhere for the movie.
The comedy, which wrapped production in August 2007, starred Simpson as a naďve pop singer who attempts to win over a movie studio who dubs her “unsuitable” for their upcoming military-themed film.
To prove them wrong and win the role, she enlists in the U.S. Army. Once she arrives at the military base, she realizes she’s made a mistake, but decides to stick to it so she won’t let her country down.
The film also stars Vivica A. Fox, Cheri Oteri, Steve Gutenberg and new “High School Musical 3” star Olesya Rulin.
“Major Movie Star” also lists over a dozen producers on the project, including Jess’ own father, Joe Simpson.
