Jessica Simpson Goes Country on New Album
01/04/2008
Jessica Simpson has gone back to her country roots for her next album. The pop singer’s last album, A Public Affair, was released in 2006 and proved to be a flop. After the release of her movie, Blonde Ambition, Simpson says she is ready to get back to singing and song writing.
“Writing is a release for me. It’s a way for me to tell my story. That’s not to say I wouldn’t record a song that I didn’t write. It’s just that it has been a while since I have opened the book,” she says.
This will be the first country album for the 27-year-old, who says country is her roots. “I am a country girl,” she said. “I grew up in Texas, and country music was what I listened to. I always wanted to wait until the time was right.”
Music isn’t the only area Simpson is turning over a new leaf; she also has a new romance. After a history of failed relationships, Simpson and her new man Tony Romo seem to be going strong. The pair were first linked over Thanksgiving holidays and have appeared in public together several times since then. Simpson was divorced from Nick Lachey in 2006 and began dating singer John Mayer. She also dated actor Dane Cook and singer Adam Levine.
